How To Make An Easy & Delicious Mexican White Rice

This recipe is easy and yummy! I followed the same process as the Mexican tomato rice on my Youtube channel. Toasting the rice makes a significant difference when preparing any Mexican rice recipe. It intensifies the flavor of the rice by giving it a toasted nutty essence. I love it, and I know you will too.

Important Information:

Course: Side dish

Cuisine: Mexican

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 25 minutes

Total Time: 35 minutes

Servings: 4

Prepping:

· Pre-measure your ingredients.

· Wash your veggies and cut them accordingly. I rough chopped the onion and cilantro for this recipe and cut the tomatillos and celery into 1 cm pieces.

· Wash your rice thoroughly and drain it.

Ingredients: This recipe consists of very few components, but let me tell you, it packs a punch full of flavor. For this recipe, you will need:

· 3 cups white rice

· 5 ½ cups water

· 1 tsp salt (optional)

· 1 tsp garlic powder

· 2 tbsp Knorr bouillon powder

· ¼ onion

· 1 stick of celery

· ½ bunch of cilantro

· 2 small tomatillos

· 4 tbsp oil

Instructions:

1. Place your oil into a large pan and allow it to heat up. Use a medium to high flame.

2. Make sure your rice is drained and dry. Then place the rice in the pan and allow it receive a medium toast. This will take about 10 minutes.

3. Place your onion, tomatillos, and celery in the pan and allow them to receive a slight cook. Continue to stir for about 5 minutes.

4. Then add your bouillon powder and garlic powder and continue to stir.

5. Add your water to the rice and allow it to come to a full boil using a high flame.

6. At this point, taste for salt and add it if needed.

7. Set the flame to the lowest setting possible. Cover the rice with the lid and let it steam for 15 minutes.

8. After 15 minutes, add the cilantro to the top of the rice. Shut the lid once more and let it steam for another 10 minutes.

Topper Tips:

1. Wash and drain your rice well. You don't want your rice to overreact when placing it in the pan.

2. Taste for salt; you may or may not need it. The bouillon powder has a lot of salt.

3. Add the cilantro until the end. Cilantro tends to darken when cooked.

4. Adding too much water will make your rice mushy.
